Low Pressure Area spotted off Central Luzon

A low pressure area (LPA) has been spotted off Central Luzon but it is unlikely to directly affect the entire archipelago, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday.

Weather specialist Obet Badrina said that the LPA was located 980 kilometers west of Central Luzon.

Badrina said the northeasterly surface wind flow, the wind coming from the northeast that brings mild temperature, is affecting areas in extreme Northern Luzon including Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela and Apayao.

«Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may prevail in these areas due to this weather system,» he said.

He said that the country is transitioning from the southwest monsoon or «habagat» to the northeast monsoon or «amihan.»

Meanwhile, the trough of the LPA will bring overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Palawan.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated downpour and thunderstorms.
