LP to field 'credible', 'experienced' Senate slate in 2025

MANILA, Philippines — The Liberal Party (LP) will field a senatorial slate for the 2025 midterm elections although it might not be a full one.

Albay 1st District Rep. Edcel Lagman, LP president, said this in a press conference on Wednesday following the House of Representatives' passage of the absolute divorce bill of which he is an author.

Lagman said that «we are certain to field our senatorial slate.»

«Baka hindi kumpleto (It may not be complete) because we should not overextend our limited resources but definitely, we are filing a credible and experienced list of candidates for the 2025 elections which will be determining what would happen in 2028,» he said.

In 2028, Filipinos will vote for the country's president.

As to alliances, Lagman said that «options are open but definitely, we will have to contend with our basic tenets and principles as a political party.»

He said that the LP has alliances with «kindred political parties.»

The party has an alliance with former senator Paolo Benigno «Bam» Aquino 4th's new party, Lagman said.

Aquino became chairman of the Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino.
