LTO apprehends 6k unregistered motor vehicles
THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it has apprehended more than 6,000 unregistered motor vehicles across the country, as the agency implements its «no registration, no travel» policy in the first two weeks of June.
LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II reminded motorists to renew expired vehicle registration.
«The renewal of the registration is not only an obligation to the government; it is also an obligation to yourself and your family because doing so would compel you to ensure the road worthiness of your motor vehicles, for your safety, for the safety of your loved ones,» he said.
LTO data released on Friday showed that from June 1 to 15, the agency apprehended 6,064 motor vehicles, of which 5,127 were motorcycles while 937 were four-wheel vehicles.
It added that 5,470 vehicles were issued violation tickets, while 981 were impounded. Among the sanctioned four-wheel vehicles were 34 passenger jeepneys and seven passenger buses.
