LTO: No more plate backlog for tricycles in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has ended the backlog problem for all tricycle franchise holders in Quezon City.

The LTO said 2,915 license plates were turned over to franchise holders from the Quezon City Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association.

“This is the first time in the history of the LTO that it distributed the license plates directly to the owners. And we express our gratitude to the Quezon City government, led by Mayor Belmonte, for helping us in this objective,” LTO chief Vigor Mendoza said.

Mendoza said that all legitimate tricycle franchise holders have been issued their license plates and that those with no plates are the ones illegally operating.

The LTO chief said that they will coordinate with the Quezon City government to crack down on colorum tricycles.

Mendoza said that addressing the 12-million backlog in license plates is the top priority of the LTO.

“There is no more backlog for four-wheeled vehicles. President (Marcos) ordered us to finish the backlog for motorcycles by June 2025. And we are on the right track in doing this,” he added.
