LTO to issue show cause order vs. driver in Cavite road rage

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 27) — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Wednesday said it has already identified the driver involved in a road rage in Cavite and will order him to explain why he should not be penalized.

«We are also intending to issue a show cause order to the driver because he has already been identified yesterday,» LTO Calabarzon Operations Division chief Clarisa Sulit told CNN Philippines' Traffic Center.

Sulit explained that they previously issued a show cause order only to the registered owner of the vehicle — a woman from Rizal — since they initially did not have enough information to determine the identity of the driver.

In a viral video, a Honda CRV was seen repeatedly swerving on a public road, preventing the vehicle behind it from passing.

This prompted the person manning the car behind to honk, angering the driver of the Honda CRV who stopped the car and aggressively confronted the other.

The Honda driver was also heard cursing at the occupants in the other vehicle.

Asked what kind of charges may be filed against the driver, Sulit said reckless driving is a possibility.

She added that he could have his license suspended or revoked if he fails to defend his actions.
