Man United's player performances in final Women's World Cup group stage

The six-strong Manchester United contingent have experienced mixed fortunes at the World Cup, with only four of them are still in contention to lift the trophy.

Marc Skinner will be welcoming a couple back to pre-season early after exiting the tournament, while the rest of the players who headed out to Australia and New Zealand will battle it out for a place in the quarter-finals and beyond for their country.

We take a look at how the United players Down Under have performed for their teams.

England

Mary Earps has made more headlines off the pitch than on it in this tournament. The United stopper found herself being backed by Mel B when she took a side swipe at Nike for not producing an England goalkeeping kit for fans.

Earps has only conceded one goal in the World Cup so far, keeping clean sheets against Haiti and Denmark but then finally beaten in a 6-1 win over China.

It was a footnote to a commanding win but Earps was breached for the first time when Wang Shuang sent her the wrong way from the penalty spot on 57 minutes, then cutting the deficit to 3-1.

Earps has since been on the front foot in the media ahead of England’s last 16 clash with Nigeria.

"Our qualities have shown through since we've been playing together. I think we're in a good spot," said Earps. "I don't think we fear anyone in general. I'm glad it happened for us [on Tuesday].”

The other United representative in the England squad is Ella Toone and her form has waxed and waned thus far.

She was ineffectual against Haiti, slightly better against Denmark and then dropped from the team to face China as Sarina Wiegman rebalanced her side after the loss of Keira Walsh.
