Marcos: Displaced OFWs in Saudi 'will be paid'

RIYADH: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday said that Saudi Arabia assured him that the unpaid wages of more than 10,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were left jobless after their companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia declared bankruptcy in 2015 and 2016 will be paid

The President met with Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations-Gulf Cooperation Council (Asean-GCC) Summit here.

During an interview with the Philippine media on Friday, Marcos said that the Saudi government is now processing the back wages of the affected OFWs and other details when asked about the government's efforts to ensure that the back wages of more than 10,000 OFWs will be given to them.

The President, however, said that no other details may be disclosed about the settlement issues.
