Marcos' performance, trust ratings decline

(UPDATES) PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s trust and approval ratings slipped in the second quarter of 2024, while Vice President Sara Duterte's ratings remain constant statistically, pollster Pulse Asia said in its latest Ulat ng Bayan survey.

The survey, conducted from June 17–24, 2024, showed the President's performance slipping 2 percentage points to 53 percent, down from 55 percent in March.

While his performance ratings increased in the National Capital Region by 14 percentage points, from 47 percent to 61 percent, they eroded in Luzon by 9 percentage points, from 66 percent to 57 percent.

His approval rating among class ABC also declined by 13 percentage points, from 62 percent in March 2024 to 49 percent in June 2024.

Marcos' disapproval ratings declined slightly by a single percentage point, from 20 percent in March to 19 percent in June, however, an increase in disapproval ratings was reported in Luzon, from 11 percent to 16 percent.

Vice President Duterte's approval ratings increased slightly to 69 percent, a 2 percentage point gain from 67 percent in the previous quarter.

Duterte's approval ratings jumped in NCR and Visayas, with 12 and 16 percentage point gains, respectively, rising to 64 percent from 52 percent and 80 percent from 64 percent, respectively, in these regions.

She also increased her approval ratings among socioeconomic class E, with a 17-percentage point increase to 82 percent from 65 percent in the previous quarter.

Speaker Martin Romualdez's approval ratings increased by 4 percentage points to 35 percent, with the biggest jump registered in the Visayas region, a 26-percentage point increase from 33 percent to 59 percent.

He also posted a 2-percentage point increase in trust ratings among Class E, from 20 percent to 41 percent.

Marcos' trust ratings declined in June 2024, with only 52 percent saying that they trust the President, a decline of 5 percentage points from the 57 percent reported in March.

The decline in Marcos' trust ratings was more pronounced in Luzon, with a nine-point drop from 67 percent to 58 percent, as well as in socioeconomic class ABC,
