Marcos to Malaysian PM: Good health, happiness

PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. yesterday wished Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim good health, happiness, and continued success on his 77th birthday and also recognized and thanked him for the friendship, opportunities, ideas and learnings they shared, which helped them steer their respective countries towards peace and prosperity.

The President, in a video message, said he had known the Malaysian leader even before they both became the heads of their respective countries, even recalling they once shared a time singing on karaoke.

“Together we have addressed numerous challenges and celebrated some successes. Much has been done, yet much is left to do. “At this point in our lives, we have been charged to lead our respective nations and play important roles in this region and the wider international community. Your unwavering dedication to Malaysia and our shared vision for the region has been a source of inspiration,” Marcos added.

The President said he considers the Malaysian leader more than just a neighbor in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a trusted friend with whom he can share many fond memories.

“I’m grateful for every opportunity that we have had through the years to share ideas and to learn from each other’s experiences as we continue to steer our nation and the region towards a future of peace and prosperity before our peoples. On a personal note, I want to emphasize how much I value the bonds that our families share. Your wisdom, kindness, and strength have been invaluable to me. And I look forward to more years of friendship and cooperation,” Marcos added.

Anwar in March 2023 visited the Philippines as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia and vowed to continue supporting the Philippines, especially the peace efforts in Mindanao and the continued progress in the Bangsamoro Autonomous
