Marcos to visit Germany in March

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Thursday he will visit Germany in March this year.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, Marcos told German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock that “he is hoping to develop more cooperation with the government of Germany as he looks forward to visiting the country in March this year.”

Marcos has undertaken 19 foreign trips since assuming office in June 2022.

The president’s travel budget for his local and foreign trips in 2024 has been allocated P1.408 billion, a 58% increase from the P893.87 million requested by the Office of the President in 2023.

Baerbock is in the Philippines as part of her visit to the Middle East and Southeast Asia. She is the first German top diplomat to visit the country after more than a decade.

Aside from Marcos, Baerbock also met with Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, and visited the Philippine Coast Guard. She will also visit the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
