Marcos, Widodo to discuss bilateral relations, release of jailed OFW
MANILA, Philippines: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday welcomed Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Malacañang to reaffirm bilateral relations between the two countries.
After Marcos and Widodo met at the Palace Grounds at around 9:45 a.m., the Indonesian leader proceeded to sign the guest book.
The two will then meet to discuss progress in Philippine-Indonesia relations, including
the country's request for clemency for overseas Filipino worker Mary Jane Veloso.
Widodo arrived in Manila on Tuesday evening for a three-day official visit.
The Philippines and Indonesia, both founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), are close neighbors and partners in a wide range of areas in the political, economic, and people-to-people relations.
Marcos and Widodo last met during the Asean-Japan Commemorative Summit held in Tokyo in December 2023.
