Mini-Agraryo Trade Fair Achieves ₱241K in Sales

TACLOBAN CITY – The Mini-Agraryo Trade Fair held at the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Regional Office in Tacloban City registered ₱241,110.00 in total sales over its four-day run from August 6 to 9, showcasing the diverse products of agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) across Eastern Visayas.

The fair, formally opened by DAR Eastern Visayas Regional Director Robert Anthony Yu, featured a wide array of products ranging from fresh fruits, vegetables, and eggs to processed foods and handicrafts.

The booth representing the province of Leyte topped the sales charts with ₱73,648.00, followed by Western Samar with ₱43,322.00. Other provinces also saw significant sales, with Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, and Biliran earning ₱36,210.00, ₱33,075.00, ₱30,970.00, and ₱23,885.00, respectively.

According to Ronelo Jose Zamora, chief of the Program Beneficiaries Development Division, the most popular items included fresh produce such as fruits and vegetables, root crops, and eggs, as well as processed goods like banana and camote chips, bokarilyo, igot wine, chicharukog, coffee, chocolate, pili products, labtingaw, suman taro chips, and calamansi juice.

The Mini-Agraryo Trade Fair was a key event in the 36th-anniversary celebration of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) in the region, aimed at helping ARBOs and agrarian reform beneficiaries promote their products and enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

DAR officials are encouraging ARBs and ARBOs to pursue livelihood activities beyond farming to generate additional income. To date, 361 of the 757 DAR-assisted ARBOs in the region are managing profitable enterprises. Additionally, nine ARBOs were granted a License to Operate, and four ARBO products received a Certificate of Product Registration from the Food and Drug Administration, enabling them to access broader markets.
