MMDA eyes GSIS lot for transport hub
MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) plans to build a transport hub and a parking area near the Quezon Memorial Circle.
MMDA officials, led by acting Chairman Romando Artes, inspected the lot owned by state insurer Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) near the Quezon Memorial Circle on May 14, the MMDA said in a statement yesterday.
GSIS president and general manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso joined the ocular inspection of the agency’s vacant lot.
According to the MMDA, building an integrated terminal – which includes a transport hub and a parking lot – in the area would help commuters and motorists.
The agency would discuss with the Quezon City government the conceptual design and plan for the proposed integrated terminal.
The MMDA and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will also study the routes of public utility vehicles that will be included in the proposed terminal.
The MMDA had utilized another GSIS property at the corner of Doña Julia Vargas and Meralco Avenues in Pasig for its MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy.
