No TRO vs new Pasig city hall project

A PASIG City regional trial court (RTC) yesterday denied the petition seeking the issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the construction of the multi-billion new city hall project.

The sala of Judge Kathrine A. Go of RTC Branch 152 refused to give a copy of the decision to non-parties but confirmed the decision.

In a statement sent to the media, the Pasig Public Information Office (PIO) said: “This is to inform you that the Pasig Regional Trial Court denied the petition for the TRO on the construction of the new City Hall. As we speak, we are waiting for the release of the Court Order on this.”

In a 39-page petition filed on August 19, complainant Alejandro dela Vega Sanoy asked the court to stop the project, saying that the respondents allocated P9.6 billion “from the city coffers for the demolition and construction of a new city hall of Pasig City which amount could have been spent in developing a community-based and a more responsive health care delivery.”

Named respondents in the case were Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Robert Vincent Jude B. Jaworski, Jr., Councilors Raymund Francis Rustia, Corazon Raymundo, Simon Gerard Tantoc, Paul Roman Santiago, Noel Agustin, Roderick Mario Gonzales, Marion Rosalio Martires, Keil Custillas, Maria Luisa De Leon, and Mark Gil delos Santos as members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod.
