Nobody will resign – Garcia
(UPDATES) COMMISSION on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia said neither he nor any member of the en banc would submit a courtesy resignation or leave of absence amid the systematic demolition campaign to destroy the integrity and credibility of the commission and the upcoming 2025 elections.
Garcia said on Wednesday that the Commission would not stoop down to the level of its detractors, who were trying to destroy the institution through «white papers,» social media and unverified documents for their own personal interest.
He said calls posted on social media calling for his resignation or leave of absence, as well as that of the other commissioners, were all the handiwork of a troll farm whose identities were unverifiable.

He challenged his detractors to put their allegations under oath and, if they have the evidence, file a case against him in court.
«It is the obligation of the accuser to show their evidence in court, not the other way around,» Garcia said, adding that he is ready to face his accusers in a proper forum.

Garcia said that he has done his part to prove his detractors wrong by submitting a waiver of secrecy of bank deposits under oath to the National Bureau of Investigation and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) so that they can coordinate with their counterparts in other countries.
