NTC surpasses 2023 collection target
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 9) — The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) collected nearly ₱10 billion last year, beating its target by 62%.
In a statement, the regulator said its collection hit ₱9.43 billion in 2023, higher by over ₱3.5 billion than the estimates from the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC).
The NTC said during the period, it strictly enforced stakeholders’ compliance in remitting spectrum users’ fees, supervision, and regulation fees and penalties.
The agency is tasked to regulate cable and commercial television operators, broadcast radio stations, telecommunications companies, and commercial and portable radio operators.
According to NTC Commissioner Ella Blanca Lopez, ensuring the timely collection of fees would boost the Marcos administration’s programs on food security, education, and health.
