Outstanding NG debt hits P14.79T

THE national government's (NG) outstanding debt rose to a new record high of P14.79 trillion in January, the Bureau of the Treasury reported on Friday, up by P1.09 trillion compared to a year earlier.

For the month alone, P173.91 billion was added from December's P14.62 trillion following the issuance of domestic securities and a weaker peso depreciation, the Treasury said in a statement.
