MANILA, Philippines — Customs and anti-drug operatives confiscated eight abandoned parcels from the United States and Canada containing dried marijuana leaves and cannabis oil valued at P4.5 million at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Central Mail Exchange Center on Wednesday.

One parcel – shipped by Darlington Kay of Toronto, Canada to Joseph Ikechukwa of Novaliches, Quezon City – was declared to be a gift and contained 3.2 kilos of marijuana with a street value of P4.5 million.

Five of the parcels were sent by John Ramos from different addresses to Kirby Jones Colet of Miramonte Park Subdivision in Caloocan; James Pullan of Kapitolyo, Pasig; Daniel Luis del Rosario of San Pedro, Laguna; Allan King Pingul of Guadalupe Viejo, Makati and Mikki Albert of Tondo, Manila.

The parcels were declared to contain Pokemon and National Basketball Association cards but contained disposable vapes and cannabis oil with a street value of P13,960.

A seventh parcel, declared as a “set of trading cards,” was shipped by Hobby of Annapolis to Christian Babon of Imus, Cavite.

The last parcel, declared as jewelry, was sent by William Fowler of Huntington Beach, California to Tina Grundke of Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The packages sent by Hobby and Fowler also contained disposable vapes and cannabis oil valued at P6,120.

The marijuana and cannabis oil were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for proper disposition and filing of charges against the shipper and consignees.
