Pagadian Bishop dies after heart bypass surgery in Davao

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 2) — Bishop Ronald Lunas of the Diocese of Pagadian died on Tuesday morning at a hospital in Davao City after his recent heart bypass operation.

The Diocese of Pagadian's social media account announced that Bishop Lunas died at 8:28 a.m. due to complications after his operation.

He died at the Heart Institute, Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City, the post added.

“Thanks for your brilliant mind, holy life, and sweet smile. Now you can find your needed rest Bishop Bong,” the post said.

The 57-year-old Bishop Lunas was the 5th Bishop of the Diocese of Pagadian and was the first ordained bishop from the Diocese of Digos.

The bishop was in the hospital since early November 2023 following a heart attack and stroke.
