Palestinian envoy: Probe Israel 'crimes' in Gaza

PALESTINIAN Authority Ambassador to the Philippines, Saleh A.F. Mohammad, called on the United Nations on Thursday to investigate Israel's alleged systematic crimes against Palestinians and its flagrant violations of international law.

«It is equally urgent to expedite a dispatch of a fact-finding mission to the occupied Palestinian territory and support with evidence the trial of Israel in the ICC (International Criminal Court) for their crimes,» the envoy said, noting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not a confrontation between two equal sides.

«The scene in Gaza shows an apparent power asymmetry between the Palestinian people fighting for their freedom and the Israeli occupying forces. The Palestinians are defending their existence under their rights granted by international human rights law, while the Israeli occupying forces, equipped with all types of weapons, as shown in the aftermath destruction of their ongoing genocidal war against the defenseless Palestinian people in Gaza, as well as in the West Bank and the City of Jerusalem,» he said.
