Parents raise concerns before Mandaviya

Surat: A group of around 150 parents of medical students studying in the Philippines made a representation to Union minister of health and family welfare Mansukh Mandaviya in the city on Saturday. The parents raised their hands with applications at an event in Katargam.
Mandaviya was participating in an interactive session with doctors from the city at Samast Patidar Samaj Hall in Katargam.

The parents gathered at the event.
The parents raised their hands with applications while standing at the end of the hall. On noticing them, Mandaviya gave them an assurance that he will look into the issue and told them not to worry.

“The National Medical Commission introduced new rules related to medical studies in November 2021. Any new rule should come into force from the date of introduction, but these rules are adversely impacting the students already studying in the Philippines,” said a parent. “The medical course in the Philippines is not an approved one under the new rules.

So the students who took admission one or two years before the rules were introduced are impacted,” said a parent. Around 400 students from the city are studying medical courses in the Philippines. They made various representations to the government in the past but were not given any written assurance.

“We do not have anything in writing about this issue hence around 150 parents gathered at the event venue and made a representation to the minister. We requested that the rule should not impact students who took admission before the rules were introduced,” said a parent.
