PBBM turns over eight roads, farm machines in Caraga region

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur--President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. together with Agrarian Secretary Conrado Estrella III, turned over eight farm-to-market roads (FMRs) worth P194 million and P8.9 million worth of farm machineries to 11 agrarian cooperatives.

“Para ituloy ang ating mga nagawa na dito sa Caraga, I ask the DAR to complete the distribution of lands to their deserving owners while collaborating with all the agencies of government to support our beneficiaries in anything that they might need,” President Marcos said during the distribution of land titles to 4,659 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) of Caraga on February 16.

“So, to those who have received their titles today, I urge you to take advantage of these support services we are giving you. These are all for you to help you improve your lives and source of livelihood,” Marcos said.

Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Estrella said, the FMRs, constructed and funded under the Agrarian Reform Fund, are all located Surigao del Sur in the municipalities of Cagwait, Madrid, Carmen, Tago (2 FMRs), San Miguel (2 FMRs), and Barobo, and the farm machineries and equipment were given to 11 agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) in the region.

Estrella III said the construction of FMRs follows the directive of the President to extend the necessary support services to the farming sectors in the latter’s bid to resuscitate the country’s agriculture industry by improving the flow of food supply.

Estrella said the road projects would help Surigao farmers transport their products to various markets and trading centers.

“The best way to improve the flow of food supply is to improve our road networks, from as far as the remotest villages to the main roads leading to the market centers so that farmers themselves can bring their fresh harvests easily,” Estrella said.

The President also turned over farm machineries and equipment worth P8.9 million to 11 agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) in the region. These provision of farm machines was implemented under the Climate-resilient Farm Productivity and Support Program (CRFPSP) and in partnership with the Department of Agriculture
