PH priests to hold synod in Manila

MORE than 250 priests are set to meet in the city of Manila from July 29 to August 1 for the “National Meeting of Parish Priests for the Synod.”

In a report by CBCP News, Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president Bishop Pablo Virgilio David made the announcement on the gathering of the priests in the ongoing 128th CBCP Plenary Assembly being held in Cagayan de Oro City.

“A consultation with parish priests from across the country is slated later this month for an official synod meeting,” said CBCP News, the official news agency of the CBCP.

CBCP secretary general Msgr. Bernardo Pantin told CBCP News that all Philippine dioceses and archdioceses are expected to be represented.

“Every diocese is asked to send three priests, preferably one elderly, one young, and one seminary formator,” said Pantin.

Last April 2024, an international meeting of more than 250 parish priests also took place in Sacrofano, Italy.

The meeting is an auxiliary of the ongoing “Synod on Synodality” organized by Pope Francis and the Vatican and is set to conclude in October 2024.
