Philippines accuses China of ramming vessel, using water cannons in South China Sea

The Philippine government on Sunday accused Chinese vessels of ramming and using water cannons against a Philippine fisheries vessel near the disputed Sabina Shoal in the South China Sea. According to a statement from Manila's South China Sea task force, the China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels executed perilous maneuvers, resulting in a collision that caused the Philippine ship's engine to fail.

The task force further reported that the Chinese ships attempted to encircle and block a supply mission intended for Filipino fishermen.
China's Coast Guard responded, stating it had taken "control measures" against the Philippine vessel, which it claimed had "illegally" entered the waters near the Sabina Shoal. According to China, the Philippine ship repeatedly approached its vessels in a dangerous manner before the collision occurred.
Tensions between the two nations have escalated in recent months, with repeated confrontations in the contested waters. The incident follows an accusation by Manila that China had recently fired flares at a Philippine patrol aircraft in the region.
China claims rescue after collision

China's Coast Guard stated that it rescued Filipino "personnel" who fell overboard after a collision near the Sabina Shoal. The incident occurred as the Philippine vessel allegedly refused to comply with "control measures" and collided with a Chinese ship. China warned the Philippines to cease its actions, holding it responsible for any consequences.
"China warns the Philippines to immediately cease its infringing actions, otherwise the Philippines will bear all consequences resulting from this situation," Chinese Coast Guard spokesman Gan Yu said.
