Pinoy jungolfers fare well in Asian Masters

MANILA, Philippines — A 16-strong National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP)-backed Philippine contingent, led by Wack Wack Ladies champion Reese Ng, bagged multiple awards in the recent 2024 Asian Junior Masters at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand.

Ng was the top achiever as first-place finisher in Girls Class A, with Gabie Rosca taking second runner-up honors in the same division.

The other strong individual performers for Team Philippines, under coaches Abe Rosal and Boyet Zaragosa, included Nicole Gan (second in Class C), Aerin Chan (fourth in Class D), Miko Granada (fifth in Boys Class A), Shinichi Suzuki (third in Class B) and Emil Hernandez (joint third in Class C).

Ng and Rosca together with Lia Duque and Alessa Luciano took second place in Junior Masters Girls as their boys counterparts in Edison Tabalin, Miko Granada, Shinichi Suzuki and Tristan Padilla got third place.

In the Youth Masters Girls division, Nicole Gan and Aerin Chan together with Precious Zaragosa and Alexandra Luciano achieved second-place honors as Emil Hernandez, Race Manhit, Ryu Suzuki and David Teves from Davao teamed up for third place in the Youth Masters Boys.

Hernandez closed out with a birdie while Manhit back-to-back birdies to highlight their podium finish.
