PNP deploys vehicles to help stranded commuters
The Philippine National Police deployed over 900 vehicles nationwide to assist passengers affected by the transport strike led by the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston) that started on Monday, November 20, 2023.
PNP Public Affairs Office chief Col. Jean Fajardo said 920 vehicles from various police stations will be dispatched in key areas adversely affected by the strike to ferry stranded commuters.
Fajardo said about 9,000 policemen will also provide traffic assistance and conduct checkpoints in rally points to preserve peace and order.
She said the PNP coordinated with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and local government units on the provision of assistance to stranded passengers.
Meanwhile, Armed Forces Public Affairs Office Chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad said they will also deploy military vehicles for stranded commuters.
