PNP to enforce gun ban on Marcos SONA on July 22

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Friday that it would be suspending all permits to carry firearms outside of residence (PTCFOR) during the third State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., on July 22.

According to the PNP, this is part of the security measures for the Chief Executive.

The PNP's PTCFOR Secretariat made the announcement, saying that this would be in effect from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

«This suspension is a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and security during the event, » the advisory read.

PNP spokesman Col. Jean Fajardo said that they were focusing on the security measures in the vicinity of the Batasang Pambansa Complex.

The security inside the chamber meanwhile is under the purview of the House Office of the Sergeant at Arms and the Presidential Security Group.

For now the PNP said it was regularly coordinating with its counterparts from other law enforcement agencies to ensure that there were no possible threats to the Marcos administration.
