Press Release - 'Saan mang sulok ng bansa, tutulong ako sa abot ng aking makakaya' -- Bong Go helps displaced workers during visit to Cajidiocan, Romblon

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go partnered with the local government of Cajidiocan, Romblon, including Governor Jose "Otik" Riano, Vice Governor Armando "Arming" Gutierrez, Congressman Eleandro "Budoy" Madrona, Mayor Marvin "Greggy" Ramos, and Vice Mayor Ken Rabino, among others, to provide necessary assistance to its displaced workers during the Araw ng Kagitingan, April 9.

Gathered at the municipal hall, Go and his Malasakit Team distributed grocery packs, meals, masks, vitamins, and shirts to 500 beneficiaries, while select individuals also received shoes, mobile phones, bicycles, and basketball and volleyball balls.

Through Go's initiative, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) conducted an orientation for qualified displaced workers, introducing them to the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program. This program aims to offer temporary employment assistance to beneficiaries.

"May dala rin kaming kaunting tulong po para sa inyo ngayong araw na ito. Kayo po ang napili na bibigyan ng pansamantalang trabaho ng DOLE sa ilalim ng TUPAD program. Iyang programa pong iyan ay isinulong natin noon at patuloy na sinusuportahan para mabigyan ng pansamantalang trabaho ang ating mga kababayan. Mahirap po ang panahon ngayon, marami pang apektado na hindi pa nakakabalik sa trabaho. Palakpakan natin ang ating DOLE sa programang TUPAD," Go highlighted.

To better support Filipino workers impacted by crises and to provide for those in rural areas facing a scarcity of employment opportunities, Go filed Senate Bill No. 420 with an aim to institutionalize the Rural Employment Assistance Program (REAP) under DOLE to provide temporary jobs to qualified individuals from low-income rural families.

"Wag kayong mag alala lahat ng tao sa mundo ay may bisyo. Ang pulis (ay ang) hulihin ang kriminal, ang doctor (ay ang) gamutin ang mga pasyente, ang engineer (ay ang) gumawa ng mga infrastructure. Ako rin may bisyo ako...ang bisyo ko ay magserbisyo. Magseserbisyo ako sa abot ng aking makakaya," he reiterated.
