Press Release - Tulfo alarmed over seeming Chinese invasion in Multi Village

Senator Idol Raffy Tulfo filed a Senate resolution seeking to investigate the alarming influx of Chinese nationals in Multinational Village, Parañaque.

In filing Senate Resolution No. 1043, Tulfo noted that resident-homeowners of Multinational Village have been persistently complaining about said influx in their community since 2019 when Chinese workers purportedly employed by Philippine Overseas Gaming Operators (POGOs) started moving in their village.

"Kamakailan ay sunod-sunod ang mga natatanggap ko na reklamo mula sa mga homeowner ng Multinational Village sa Parañaque City tungkol sa pagsakop na ng mga Chinese national sa kanilang lugar. Nagmistulang Chinese territory na raw ang kanilang subdivision," he said.

"May duda rin ang mga residente na maaaring may mga POGO nang nagooperate sa loob ng kanilang village," he added.

In March 2020, the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee initiated an inquiry into the questionable influx of Chinese nationals in Multinational Village but it was overtaken by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Four years since this concern was initially brought into the limelight, Tulfo stressed that "resident-homeowners of Multinational Village continue to live in fear for their security."

Last May 2, 2024, a group which includes ten Chinese nationals were arrested inside a house in the Multinational Village for violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act (R.A. No. 9208), Alien Registration Act (R.A. No. 562) and Cybercrime Prevention Act (R.A. No. 10175).

Tulfo also cited reports that some houses built for single families have as many as 40 POGO workers living in them, thereby violating Multinational Village's R-1 category, which means that houses therein should only be for a single 10 family.

The Senator from Isabela and Davao maintained that is imperative to identify possible policy interventions in order to address this issue.

He already coordinated with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force, National Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Immigration to investigate the status and activities of said Chinese nationals in Multinational village."Nangako naman ang nasabing mga ahensya na agad nilang aaksyunan ito," said he.

Ultimately, Tulfo
