QCPD to build outposts in crime-prone areas

MANILA, Philippines — In a bid to protect citizens from criminals, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is putting up outposts in crime-prone areas, an official said yesterday.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said the initiative is in compliance with the directive of Mayor Joy Belmonte to intensify police visibility and crime prevention measures in the city.

Maranan said they will initially put up 20 police outposts in places where crimes frequently occur and areas of convergence.

Each outpost will be manned by two to four police officers, Maranan said in a message on Viber.

Maranan last week inspected outposts that were established at the corners of Araneta Avenue and Quezon Avenue, and Commonwealth Avenue and Litex Road.

Early this month, Maranan showed to Princess of Bahrain Sheikha Jawaher Al Khalifa and her delegation the QCPD’s Integrated Command and Control Center (IC3) at Camp Karingal.

The IC3 is a digital system the QCPD uses to keep tabs on the situation of certain areas in Quezon City.

Maranan also discussed the QCPD’s three-minute response policy in responding to crimes and other emergencies during their meeting.
