Ramos' game-winner lifts Terrafirma past NLEX

MANILA, Philippines -- A putback layup by Aldrech Ramos to break the tie gave the Terrafirma Dyip their second straight win in the PBA Season 48 Commissioner's Cup at the expense of the NLEX Road Warriors in cardiac fashion, 113-111, Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

With the game tied at 111 and with 10 seconds remaining, rookie Stephen Holt drove to the basket and attempted a layup but missed it.

Ramos, however, was at the right place at the right time and made the clutch layup to give Terrafirma a 113-111 lead.

On the next play, NLEX's Thomas Robinson drove and attempted an acrobatic shot to try and tie the game, but he was fouled.

He made the first free throw but missed the second as time expired.

Down by 110-102 with 1:28 remaining following a Holt 3-pointer, NLEX crept closer and cut the lead to two, 111-109, with a 7-1 run.

With the momentum clearly on the Road Warriors' side, Robinson tied the game at 111 with a driving layup with 10 seconds remaining.

Then the Ramos shot happened.

Javi Gomez de Liano erupted for a career-high 31 points to help guide the Terrafirma Dyip to a 2-1 record. Thomas de Thaey followed suit with 23 points.

Holt had his best game in the PBA with 21 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Robinson finished with 40 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the losing effort.

The Road Warriors are now holding a 1-2 slate.
