Retired CA justice named PhlPost chief

MANILA, Philippines — Retired Court of Appeals justice Stephen Cruz is the new chairman of the Philippine Postal Corp., replacing Mike Planas who headed PhlPost for three months.

Cruz said PhlPost would work with the Department of Tourism and an inter-agency task force for the restoration and rehabilitation of the Manila Central Post Office, which was razed by a fire on May 21, 2023.

Cruz said he would lobby for the return of the postal identification card as a valid ID.

Meanwhile, President Marcos has named Meynardo Sabili as chairman of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor.

Sabili took his oath before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin at Malacañang. He served as mayor of Lipa, Batangas from 2010 to 2019.    –  Helen Flores
