[SPLIT News Alert] President Marcos awards 2,337 land titles to agrarian reform beneficiaries in Iloilo

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. awarded 2,337 electronic titles (e-titles) and 251 Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) to 1,932 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) from the Panay Island provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo in a ceremony held at Passi City in Iloilo on September 19, 2024.

The e-titles issued under the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling Project (Project SPLIT) cover a total of 2,930.4133 hectares and were granted to 1,725 ARBs. In addition, CLOAs for new lands, spanning 253.1103 hectares, were awarded to 207 ARBs.

President Marcos cited the significance of these titles, emphasizing that each document represents not just land ownership, but freedom from debt under the New Agrarian Emancipation Act (Republic Act No. 11953).

"Ang bawat titulo ay nagbibigay ng kalayaan sa ating mga magsasaka—kalayaan mula sa pagkakautang, kalayaan na magkaroon ng tiyak na kinabukasan para sa kanilang pamilya, at kalayaan na makapagplano para sa mas maunlad na bukas," said President Marcos.

The distribution of e-titles and CLOAs fulfills a long-standing promise to Filipino farmers, symbolizing the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring land ownership for those who have long tilled the soil.

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is set to distribute 101,666 land titles by the end of the year.
