Suspect in slay of neighbor; alleged shooter surrender to Sarangani, Cotabato cops

COTABATO CITY — Two law-offenders, one accused of killing a neighbor with a knife and the other, a minor who allegedly shot and wounded three villagers while playing basketball, surrendered to the police in Sarangani province and in Cotabato city on Tuesday and confessed to their wrongdoings.

Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, director of the Police Regional Office-12, said on Wednesday that Jason Imbo Ingkong, who allegedly stabbed his neighbor, Virgilio Abot, to death last Sunday in Barangay Sinawal in General Santos City, on Tuesday surrendered through the intercession of his relatives.

Ingkok tried to hide in Tambilil in Kiamba town, Sarangani but eventually agreed to yield, after having been persuaded by his siblings. He surrendered to the Kiamba Municipal Police Station and is now answering for the alleged crime he had perpetrated.

Ingkong and Abot were hostile to each other over several issues, according to residents of Barangay Sinawal. He allegedly repeatedly stabbed Abot with a long knife on Sunday morning and hurriedly escaped.

Few hours after Inkong surrendered, one of the suspects who allegedly shot and wounded three friends while playing basketball, in a makeshift court along Alamanza Street in Barangay Rosary Heights 3, Cotabato City also turned himself in to the local police and admitted his role in the attack.

The victims, Magtanggol Bandon, Saidamen Bangon and their playmate, who is a minor, were playing basketball when their attacker, who is now under police custody, and his cohorts arrived and shot them with pistols, wounding all three of them.

Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, said Wednesday that efforts to locate the accomplices of the minor who had admitted his having shot Bandon, Bangon and their companion are still underway.
