Tallo set for reunion with Ayo at Converge

MANILA, Philippines — 3x3 star Mac Tallo has been released by Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas, clearing the path for his likely PBA return and stint with Converge.

Tallo, the country’s top-ranked 3x3 player, plunged into 5-on-5 action recently in a pocket tournament under the FiberXers’ banner in what many saw as a sign of things to come.

Reunited with his old Chooks coach, Aldin Ayo, the Cebuano hotshot delivered a strong performance in this gig spiked by a 24-point sizzler that sparked Converge to a 120-111 win over Rain or Shine.

Tallo, the 10th pick of the 2017 draft who last played in the PBA in 2019 for NLEX, is expected to come on board Ayo’s squad in time for next month’s Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup.

The six-foot guard has been whipping up a storm in the half-court competitions the past three years. Just last month, Tallo lifted Manila Chooks to a stunning upset over world No. 12 Futian in the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Tour Cebu Masters.

That inspired the remaining members of the team, who went on to shock world No. 3 Antwerp in the 2023 FIBA 3x3 Al Bidda Park Challenger Tuesday.

Chooks expressed its heartfelt gratitude for Tallo’s invaluable contributions to Philippine 3x3 basketball.

“Chooks Pilipinas is grateful for the service Tallo has done for the country, including being the country’s number one-ranked 3x3 player. Tallo has exemplified the spirit of dedication, hard work, and passion that defines Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas,” said Chooks Inc. VP Mel Macasaquit.
