Temperature in Baguio remains low at 11.6 Celsius

MANILA, Philippines — The temperature in Baguio City remained low at 11.6 degrees Celsius yesterday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

PAGASA said that the lowest temperature in the summer capital of the Philippines was recorded at 7:50 a.m.

Baguio City recorded the coldest temperature for the entire country so far this year at 9.8 degrees Celsius last Saturday morning, as temperatures continued to drop in various parts of the country.

Aside from Baguio City, other areas with low temperatures on Sunday included Laoag City, Ilocos Norte with 16.8 degrees Celsius; Basco, Batanes (17.1 degrees Celsius); Tanay, Rizal (17.3 degrees Celsius); Abucay, Bataan (18.5 degrees Celsius); Malaybalay, Bukidnon (18.8 degrees Celsius); Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (18.8 degrees Celsius); Casiguran, Aurora (19.5 degrees Celsius); Aparri, Cagayan (19.6 degrees Celsius) and Dagupan City, Pangasinan (19.9 degrees Celsius).

PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said that the northeast monsoon or amihan would continue to prevail in many parts of the country.

“We will continue to experience the effect of the northeast monsoon or amihan, which is currently affecting a big portion of the country,” Villamil said.

He added that the weather bureau does not expect typhoons to enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the next five days.

“Rains are expected in the eastern section of Luzon, particularly the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, including Aurora and Quezon,” Villamil said.
