Tigresses destroy Lady Archers by 34 points

MANILA, Philippines — The UST Growling Tigresses exacted revenge on the DLSU Lady Archers, 91-57, in a rematch of last UAAP season's semifinalists at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion here on Sunday.

The Tigresses, who join UP as the undefeated teams in UAAP Season 86 at 3-0, jumped to a blistering start over last year’s runners-up La Salle, seizing a 35-12 lead at the end of the opening quarter.

Tacky Tacatac led the cavalry with 25 points, including hitting seven 3-pointers. She also had three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Brigette Santos followed suit with 14 points, five rebounds, six assists and six steals, while former Lady Archer Kent Pastrana was limited against her former team, only tallying two points for UST.

Defense was the name of the game for Haydee Ong’s squad as they forced a whopping 30 turnovers against La Salle.

“Alam niyo namang I’m a defensive coach kaya naiinis ako kapag hindi sila dumedepensa. Hopefully we can sustain this until our next game against NU,” said Ong after the game.

UST had 32 points off turnovers in the convincing victory.

Luisa San Juan was a bright spot for La Salle with 14 markers — she was the only Lady Archer to breach double figures.

La Salle is winless in three outings.

The Lady Tigresses go again on Wednesday at the Adamson Gym against the Lady Bulldogs, who will be looking to bounce back from their loss to UP earlier today.

Meanwhile, DLSU seeks to barge into the win column against the Adamson Lady Falcons also on Wednesday.
