UC Baby Webmasters grab championship crown | The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters fended off the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars, 63-60, in their thrilling final match to emerge as champion of the two-day Mayor Carlo Villamor Carmen Fiesta Cup Basketball League 2024 on Friday night at the Carmen Sports and Civic Center.

Trailing by five, 43-48, in the third period, the Baby Webmasters staged a daring endgame fightback to turn the tables on the Baby Jaguars and escape with a close but exhilarating three-point victory.

 Malipayon kaayo ko nga na-champion mi even sa kagagmay sa ako mga players ug kadaghan nila og new set of players,  said Baby Webmasters head coach Joever  Brad  Samonte.   Nag-adjust pa ang mga bata sa ilang teammates pero ako gi-instill sa ilang mind nga modepensa ug maninguha gyud kay mao rana amo ticket sa kadaogan.

 For now, nagkinahanglan pa gyud mi og daghan mga tournaments nga apilan in preparation sa CESAFI 2024 season aron magka-jell ang akoa new and old players,  added Samonte.

Jake Yong topscored for the Baby Webmasters with 11 points. Carlo Salgarino and Burj Lapu-os connived for 18 points while Kieth Buot and Kyle Bayug each scored seven underscoring UC s balanced attack that towed them to title glory.
