Unregistered drug for gout, uric acid being sold – FDA
THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday warned the public against “AlcalisTM onecare® 2.8 g sachet,” a drug product being sold as a relief for gout symptoms and to regulate uric acid levels.
The FDA said the product is not registered with the agency as it “has not gone through the registration process… and has not been issued with proper authorization in the form of certificate of product registration.”
As it did not pass FDA evaluation, the product “may pose potential danger or injury to health,” it said.
