UP still top PH university in 2024 Asia Rankings, 4 other universities enter list

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 9) — The University of the Philippines (UP) still ranked the highest among the country's universities in the 2024 QS Asia University Rankings, with four other universities entering the list for the first time.

Sixteen universities nationwide made it to the ranking, including newly added University of San Carlos, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Far Eastern University, and Mindanao State University.

UP ranked 78th among Asian universities, higher than its 87th place in 2023.

Ateneo de Manila University ranked 137th, a 3-point drop from last year's 134th.

De La Salle University rose from 171st to 154th, while University of Santo Tomas dipped from 175th to 179th.

A total of 856 universities in Asia were included in the latest ranking.

Peking University remained the top-ranked Asian university with an overall score of 100. It was followed by The University of Hong Kong (97.9); National University of Singapore (97.2); Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; and Tsinghua University (96.1).

Key indicators in this year's rankings were academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty to student ratio, international research network, citations per paper, papers per faculty, staff with a PhD, percentage of international faculty and students, and the percentage of inbound and outbound exchange students.
