UV pulls off another twinkill | The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The University of the Visayas (UV) scored another double victory, both in lopsided fashion, in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Season 24 basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum over the weekend.

In the college division, the UV Green Lancers slaughtered the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats, 95-75, to stay undefeated in three starts.

Raul Gentallan dropped 21 points on top of four rebounds, two assists and three steals, while reigning MVP Kent Ivo Salarda and Rovello Robles combined for 29 points and 11 rebounds for the Green Lancers, who kept the Wildcats at bay since racing to a 29-18 start.

Froiland Maglasang contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, and two assists for the Green Lancers, whose biggest lead stood at 30 points, 93-63, late in the game.

Jerian Macr Abello, Edgar Steven Sajol, Nono Matthew Paras, and Josiah Gideon Villamayor connived for 49 points but to no avail as the Wildcats fell to 1-3.

On the other hand, the UV Baby Lancers clobbered the previously unbeaten University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters, 75-50.

Christophelcian Abellana topscored with 19 points, six rebounds, one assist, and two steals while Roderick Cambarijan had a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds laced with six assists as the Baby Lancers improved their record to 5-1.

John Nathan de la Torre and Kenneth Calvin Cole also finished with 11 points each for the Baby Lancers, who were so explosive and led by as high as 27 points, 73-46, at one point.

No one from the Baby Webmasters side cracked double figures as they saw their five-game winning streak come to a sudden red stop.

In the other result, Prince Juver Neil Mallorca collected 16 points, nine rebounds, and five steals while Wade Adam Luche added 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals as the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) crushed the Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Greywolves, 81-49, to end its five-game jinx and claim its second victory in seven matches.
