Vhong Navarro case convict Ferdinand Guerrero transferred to BuCor

MANILA, Philippines — One of the four individuals convicted of the serious illegal detention of actor Vhong Navarro was transferred to the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Friday.

In a Friday press release, the BuCor said that Guerrero was turned over by the National Bureau of Investigation after his surrender on May 16.

According to the bureau, Guerrero will be held in the quarantine cell for five days without visiting privileges, similar to other newly admitted inmates.

He will then undergo a 55-day diagnostic process, including medical, sociological, psychological, educational and classification assessments, before being transferred to a correctional facility.

On May 2, the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 153 convicted Guerrero, together with businessman Cedric Lee, model Deniece Cornejo and Simeon Raz, for the serious illegal detention of Navarro back in 2014.

They were sentenced to reclusion perpetua or equivalent to 40 years imprisonment.

Aside from jail time, the RTC also ordered the accused individuals to pay Navarro P100,000 in civil indemnity, P100,000 as moral damages and P100,000 as exemplary damages.

Cornejo, Raz and Lee were the first to be admitted to the BuCor on May 4.
