WATCH: Future of homes, technological wonders in Samsung Digital City

SUWON, South Korea — Samsung is among the world's technology leaders and for many who are curious as to how it started and what it currently offers, the tech giant actually has a model smart home and its very own Samsung Innovation Museum located in Suwon, an hour away by bus or train from capital Seoul.

Philstar.com is among the Philippine press invited to cover the very first Samsung Unpacked in South Korea last July. Among the stops before the big event, the press was given a tour to the Samsung Digital City.

The Samsung Innovation Museum (SIM) is a 10,950-square-meter five-story museum that features a detailed exhibition of the past, present and future of electronics.

First opened in 2014 in the city where Samsung was founded in January 1969, SIM is a must-visit for those who are into electronics and technology.

The Age of Inventors Hall features breakthroughs from vaunted scientists and inventors, including Guglielmo Marconi’s Wireless Telegraph “Maggie” (1896) and Thomas Edison's early filament lamp (1900s).

There is also a hall for other tech innovators apart from Samsung, including inventions by Sony, Sharp, Nokia and Motorola.

The Samsung History Museum traces back the brands' history and major breakthroughs through the years.

SIM is an immersive experience where visitors can wonder at how techology has evolved and is continuing to evolve. It also offers guests to experience technologies that are currently being used in homes or are being developed for future use.

Visitors are encouraged to make reservations in the museum website.

Samsung Digital City is a sprawling property that also offers recreational spots, such as tennis courts and basketball courts for its employees.

In its property is a smart home where visitors can experience and see for themselves how Samsung's innovative products are put to use at home, possibly every home in the world in the years to come.

Whether in the kitchen, with a smart and intuitive refrigerator and cooking appliance that helps homeowners to decide what to cook with instructional videos, or in the living room with a smart entertainment system, the smart home shows guests how future homes can be controlled
