Zamboanga police units prepare for 2025 polls

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Police commanders in Zamboanga Peninsula were directed to prepare early for the midterm elections and address potential threats and concerns.

Brig. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding, Police Regional Office 9 director, directed his field commanders to prepare months ahead of the 2025 polls following the issuance of Commission on Election Resolution 10999, which sets the country’s election period, and an advisory from Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil.

“We are still six months away from the election period, but we need to do this, and what better time to do this than now? We will fully support the Chief PNP in meeting his commitment to safeguarding the democratic process and ensuring that the people will be secure when they vote,” Masauding said in a command conference.

Masauding said the move should ensure the sanctity of the election process and the safety of the people in the region. He also urged the local PNP commanders to focus on dismantling syndicates and arresting members of armed group.

“How we manage peace and order in Zamboanga Peninsula today will make a world of difference in the outcome of the upcoming elections,” Masauding said.
