1 dead, 3 hurt in house collapse
MANILA, Philippines — A man died and three others were injured after a two-story house in Quezon City collapsed at past midnight yesterday.
The house, located beside a river along Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Bahay Toro, collapsed at around 12:45 a.m., the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)’s National Capital Region field office said in a report.
Rescue teams from the BFP and the local government responded to the scene and conducted search and rescue operations.
Raymond delos Santos, a barangay public safety officer in Barangay Bahay Toro, said the second floor of the house caved in, trapping the victims.
In a phone interview, Delos Santos said the house was near the river and the ground was “not steady.”
The fatality, whom Delos Santos did not identify, was retrieved from the collapsed structure at around 7:23 a.m.
The three other victims were brought to the Quezon City General Hospital for treatment.
An investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the house to collapse.
