3 LTO employees held for stealing license plates
MANILA, Philippines — Three alleged employees of the Land Transportation Office were arrested yesterday after they were caught stealing license plates at the LTO central office in Quezon City.
Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), said Jenard Arida, Arjay Anasco and Valeriano Nerizon were detained at the Kamuning police station 10.
The suspects were caught by a security guard while stealing five license plates in the LTO’s plate-making facility at around 12 noon.
Prior to their arrest, Maranan said an LTO representative sent a letter of the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s office of the internal security and special projects group and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), about people who were stealing license plates.
Maranan said the suspects had been threatening employees of the LTO’s plate-making plant.
He commended the collaboration between the DILG and QCPD, which led to the arrest of the suspects.
“This joint effort reflects our commitment in maintaining law and order in the community,” Maranan said in a statement.
The suspects are facing complaints for qualified theft and robbery.
