₱56-M worth of shabu seized in Cavite
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 27) — Authorities have seized more than 8,000 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of ₱56 million in an operation in Cavite, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Tuesday.
The BOC said the illegal substance was sealed in eight brown packages declared as «dry food» which arrived on Dec. 17 from California.
It added that it was the largest illegal drug apprehension recorded by the Port of Clark in 2023.
A chemical laboratory analysis conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confirmed that the substance was methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
The controlled delivery operation on Dec. 19 also resulted in the arrest of a male claimant, the bureau added.
BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said the case shows that the bureau is «steadfast and firm» in its effort to protect Filipinos from the illicit drug trade.
