THE 28th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP28) concluded with an agreement that calls on countries to transition away from fossil fuels in line with global climate goals, marking a historic pivot away from the primary sources of energy that have powered society for nearly 200 years.

In response to the breakthrough agreement, MSCI Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Henry Fernandez said, «This agreement represents a milestone for global climate progress. Turning it into real-world decarbonization will require support from all industries, including finance and investment.… A better understanding of climate-related risks and opportunities can drive the action needed to achieve net-zero emissions.»
