Adamson recruits Ronzone twins from Arizona State University

MANILA, Philippines -- Adamson is off to a flying start in its preparations for a new era without “King Falcon” Jerom Lastimosa.

The Soaring Falcons, after a Final Four miss last season, landed prized Filipino-American recruits Cade and Austin Ronzone from Arizona State University to fill the hole to be vacated by graduating ace Lastimosa.

Sons of renowned international basketball agent Tony – the handler of Filipino sensation Kai Sotto – the Ronzone twins were officially welcomed by Adamson Friday at the school campus with Lastimosa also in attendance.

No less than Tony, who also previously played in the Philippines, joined his sons in their first school visit with Adamson president Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, CM, Lastimosa and head coach Nash Racela.

“The Ronzone twins, who are eligible for UAAP 87, are expected to bolster the Soaring Falcons’ guard rotation and bring their experience from the US NCAA Division 1,” said the school statement.

Cade played point guard while Austin was an off guard during their tenure for the Sun Devils in the US NCAA Division I. Both standing at 6-foot-2, the Ronzone twins had played with another Fil-American stalwart Remy Martin in Arizona State.

Together, they made a run to March Madness. The Ronzone twins also had a chance to duke it out against now Houston Rocket Jalen Green, another Fil-Am pride, in high school.

Now, the Ronzone twins are set to strut their stuff at home of their mother Liwayway Ledesma, who was previously married to Tony, a former front-office official for the Detroit Pistons, Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA as well as Team USA.

Cade and Austin are cleared to play right away this coming season as the wards of Racela eye a Final Four return.

Adamson, a semifinalist in Season 85, nursed a shaky campaign in Season 86 with a bevy of injuries to its key players led by Lastimosa’s season-ending ACL tear en route to playoff loss to Ateneo for the No. 4 seed.
