Antique ARBs enhance processing center for more quality food products

In an effort to bolster rural enterprises and contribute to food security, the Department of Agrarian Reform in Antique turned over Php400k worth of enhanced meat processing center to Patria Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Pandan, Antique, April 18, 2024.

Implemented under the Village Level Farm-focused Enterprise Development (VLFED) Project, the upgraded facility has revitalized the cooperative's meat processing operations. Enhancing the existing infrastructure, not only improves the working conditions but also ensures compliance with the standards set by the Food and Drugs Administration. The upgrade is pivotal in enabling the cooperative to obtain the necessary operating license and expand its market reach significantly.

"The 268 agrarian reform beneficiaries from Patria, Luhod-Bayang, Duyong, Tingib Agrarian Reform Communities (PLDT-ARC) will now improve their food processing business with the provision of techno kits that include a 13 cubic chest type freezer, digital weighing scale, stainless mixing bowl, plastic containers and canisters, colander, utility tray, storage box, drawer box, aluminum foil, cutting board, vinyl gloves, disposable facemask, and hairnets," said Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Mary June Andres in her message.

Florentino D. Siladan, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II, challenged the beneficiaries to increase their cooperative revenues and ensure the operationalization and profitability of their chosen enterprise.

Rodel L. Lamigas, Chairperson of Patria MPC, expressed gratitude to the Department of Agrarian Reform for their unwavering support in enhancing the functionality and competitiveness of their enterprise.

"With the trust you've placed in us through this project, we are committed to maximizing our efforts to ensure the sustainability and profitability of our business," he affirmed.
